Latest data released by the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance 7 Dec 2017
Larger trade deficit than expected for the month. Current account deficit is at EUR 2.2 bn, compared to a deficit of EUR 3.1 bn in the previous month.
- Imports rose 1.1% m/m to EUR 45.4 bn
- Exports rose 0.4% m/m to EUR 40.4 bn
The larger trade deficit isn't the worst thing, as France has been posting a trade deficit since 2003. But it's not the best thing either as the trend shows that the deficit is slowly getting bigger over the last two years.
Still, not a very major data point for the EUR in terms of significance. EUR/USD is now trading at 1.1796 in what has been a relatively quiet session for the pair.
