Pro-bailout parties won in Greece but French anti-austerity President Francois Hollande got a major boost in parliamentary elections, also on Sunday.

Hollande’s socialists won between 296 and 321 seats according to projections. Either way, it is enough for a majority in in the National Assembly.

The victory gives the Socialists control of practically every political institution in France — the presidency, the upper and lower houses of parliament, all but two of the regions and most of the country’s big cities, communes and departments

Hollande may have been playing coy over the past several weeks in order to secure the majority, we may now see a more assertive, radical leader.
