A deal for a “grand coalition” is to be agreed by November 26. One side, the SPD will then ballot their 470k members to see if they back the deal. This is by no means a certainty as a poll just after the elections saw 65% opposed to the big coalition.
No doubt some of the pre-election hardline views may have come around as the deal took shape but there is till an element of risk that we need to be aware of.
