The German economy grew by 0.6% in 2019
The workday adjusted reading is also 0.6% but both represents the weakest growth rate in Germany since 2013. Manufacturing activity remains subdued and remains a thorn in the economy throughout the whole of last year.
Looking ahead to this year, factory conditions and exports continue to struggle but there are some green shoots - although any major rebound remains quite a distance away.
