IG Metall, the powerful German union that tends to blaze the wage trail for the rest of the German unions is asking employers for a 6% pay increase for steel workers.
With inflation closer to 1%, a raise that big will be a tough sale, but the union will argue that high worker productivity justifies the large raise.
