German foreign minister Maas says that the UK parliament's

rejection of PM May's Brexit deal with the EU means we are getting closer to a no-deal scenario

• we should now all begin the important negotiations over the EU's future relationship with the UK
• says he still hopes a no deal Brexit can be avoided in the days left through to March 29 official exit date
