Chairman Sigmar Gabriel has confirmed that they had a telephone conversation but is issuing a statement that the SPD has no clear positions on policy and there is no guarantee of a coalition with Merkel’s CDU. SPD’s leader Perr Steinbrueck also just on the wires saying that there is no automatic coalition with Merkel.
Looks like there going to be the usual horse trading going on before things settle down.
