BERLIN (MNI) – The German government currently expects domestic GDP
growth this year of around 3.5%, in line with the forecast of the
country’s leading economic research institutes released last week,
German weekly Focus reported over the weekend.

Deputy Finance Minister Steffen Kampeter said last month that GDP
growth in 2010 will likely be above 3%. In its standing official
forecast, dating from April, the government had forecast GDP growth of
only 1.4%.

Economics Minister Rainer Bruederle is scheduled to present the
government’s new growth forecasts on Thursday.
