The death count continues to stay on the higher side

Germany

The bright spot is that the case count continues to reflect a plateau of sorts, with active cases easing to ~241,600 as of the latest update above. However, the death count remains on the higher side as total deaths now hit 53,972 persons.

Despite the latest developments, Germany is said to be mulling a ban on almost all international air travel, according to a report by Bild citing interior minister, Horst Seehofer:

The danger posed by numerous virus mutations forces us to consider drastic measures. That includes significantly stricter border checks, especially at borders with high-risk areas, but also reducing air travel to Germany to almost zero, as Israel is currently doing.

In terms of healthcare capacity, there were 4,571 (-48) virus patients requiring intensive care as of yesterday with there being 4,425 (16%) intensive care units still available.
