Volker Bouffier is part of Merkel's CDU party

They're talking about the immigration deal regarding the asylum policy which has caused an almost breaking point in Merkel's government last week and over the weekend. Germany's interior minister gave the government a deadline of two weeks to seek a deal with its EU partners on that.

Given that they themselves don't expect a deal to be struck, Merkel is pretty much living on borrowed time at the moment. And this story here should continue to pin down the euro over the next few sessions.

The EU summit at the end of the month will surely be focused on this matter and to keep the German government from falling apart.
