BERLIN (MNI) – German Labor Minister Ursula von der Leyen said
Thursday she expects a “further moderate rise” in unemployment this
winter.
“The German labor market remains robust in a turbulent
environment,” von der Leyen argued.
Seasonally adjusted unemployment rose by 5,000 in November to 2.939
million, the seventh consecutive month of increase, the Federal Labor
Office reported earlier today.
In unadjusted terms, the number of unemployed fell by 2,000 persons
to 2.751 million, but the jobless rate held firm at 6.5%.
