BERLIN (MNI) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel will discuss the
next budget for the European Union with British Prime Minister David
Cameron when the two leaders meet in London on Wednesday, German
government spokesman Steffen Seibert said Monday.
The German government’s “declared goal is that an extraordinary EU
summit meeting in November is in a position to pass the 2014 to 2020
budget frame,” Seibert explained.
The spokesman acknowledged that the government still sees the need
for “significant efforts” in order to come to an agreement on the EU
budget.
Cameron has threatened to veto any increase in the EU budget.
