BERLIN (MNI) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday that
Germany will push for the introduction of a financial market transaction
tax on the international level.
“It is important that we come to an agreement on the international
level,” Merkel said after a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Werner
Faymann here.
Faymann echoed Merkel’s remarks, saying it “is a question of
justice” that financial markets contribute to the cost burden resulting
from the crisis.
