German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, interviewed in Welt am Sonntag newspaper on Sunday, said he wanted to increase investment spending and improve competitiveness in Germany, but not at the expense of achieving a balanced budget next year.
- “We must invest more and improve our competitiveness. We must get to work on this — quickly and in a concrete way”
He said he still expected a German balanced budget next year.
