Bloomers reports a story in France’s Le Figaro which has the French trade secretary Fleur Pellerin saying that while the fall in the deficit is on a declining trend it is still a long way from being satisfactory.

He says the deficit for the first half of 2014 is slightly less than €30bn and the lowest since 2010 and the FY target of -€53bn is “reachable” this year if the improvement in foreign trade figures continues.

France reports their June trade figures later and will be hoping to better the current €4.9bn deficit m/m
