Good morning, evening and afternoon all, wherever you are on the planet. US and Canada holiday Monday ... OVER ... its now Asia time and its kicking off with an Reserve Bank of Australia speech.
Philip Lowe is Deputy Governor of the RBA (and he has already been as good as anointed as the next governor when GS steps down in September of 2016). He is speaking at 8.40am local time (that'll be the 2140GMT in the post headline) at the CFA Institute Australia Investment Conference in Sydney .
Lowe's topic is "Recent Economics Developments"
I expect he will touch on:
- Mining investment downturn
- Growth led by domestic sectors
- Job growth in service industries replacing jobs in mining sectors and implications
- The nascent resurgence in business confidence
- China
And, of course, we'll be watching for references to the AUD, which may give a wiggle or two in rates .
AUD racked up nine gains in a row today, with a nice tailwind from Chinese equities on Monday. Eyes on China stocks again today (and some eco data will be a focus, I'll be back with this).
