What's on the US schedule today

Politics will be the driver in New York trade today as we count down to the House vote. Republicans can afford 22 defectors but as of Wednesday night, at least 27 were leaning or strongly against the bill according to NBC. No Democrats are expected to offer support.

Talks are continuing to try and sway them.

If House Republican leaders don't think they have the votes, they're more likely to delay it than follow through and be defeated. The vote is expected around 7 pm ET (11 pm in London).

Way before then, at the bottom of the hour, it's the weekly report on initial jobless claims.

At 1245 GMT (8:45 am ET), Yellen speaks at a community development conference. The location suggests she won't have much to say. There's no word on media Q&A.

The main data point of the day is the Fed new home sales report at 1400 GMT (10 am ET). The consensus is 564K.
