What's coming up
Expect another lively session with housing and Fedtalk on the agenda.
Comments from the Fed's Dudley and Kaplan could cross at any time. They're currently taking part in a moderated discussion on economic development.
At the bottom of the hour, US housing starts are due for September. The consensus is for a 1175K reading after a 1180K print in August, that would be a 0.4% drop.
Canadian manufacturing sales for August are due at the same time.
The late highlight is the Beige Book at 1800 GMT (2pm ET).
As for politics, there isn't much on the President's schedule today but he is meeting with the Senate Finance Committee just before lunch and that could lead to some tax cut headlines.
He also meets with Yellen later today so the Fed chair speculation will continue.
