BERLIN (MNI) – The International Monetary Fund is considering
increasing its financial resources from $940 billion to $1.3 trillion to
fight global crises, German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ)
reported Monday without stating its sources.
IMF managing director Christine Lagarde wants to have more means at
hand to be able to protect more countries from contagion effects in
economic crises, the paper wrote.
Two models were currently being examined to increase the IMF’s
resources, according to FAZ.
