French government sues Apple
French prosecutors have opened a probe into the planned obsolescence of iPhones, which have been slowing down due to 'upgrades'. The story has hampered Apple for a few weeks.
But the underlying trend is governments suing foreign companies whenever they get a chance. We've seen the same thing with the US hammering Volkswagen in the diesel emissions scandal.
For sure, in the future there is going to be more and more of this as governments do the bidding of corporations facing competitive pressure. The problem is that it can escalate pretty quickly because pretty much every megacorporation is doing something that a government could sue them for.
