Irish retail sales for January fell a hefty -9.4% m/m and a huge -20.4% y/y, the year on year decline the biggest on record.

To compound things, Decembers’ numbers were revised downward, to +0.3% and -8.8% respectively from provisional +0.5% and -8.3%.

Things certainly aren’t going well in the Emerald Isle. Don’t think it would be long before they dipped into any euro-zone rescue fund, that’s if there was one.
