Reuters just updated a story run earlier, before I came in. The ECB released a paper today that says a country that voluntarily leaves the euro area could still use the euro as its currency…I wonder if they have anyone in mind?
If a country were to leave the euro area, they would likely readopt their former currency. Not having currency flexibility has badly hurt competitiveness among the so-called “Club Med” euro zone countries…
