Comments by Italy's deputy prime minister Luigi Di Maio

  • Government ready to sit at the table to discuss with EU authorities
  • Government has no intention to leave the euro

Very much expected after the earlier report in the day here. If they stick to their guns, expect the budget to be rejected and we'll be in for a dragged out back-and-forth kind of rhetoric between the two parties that will no doubt keep any euro rallies in-check.

For the time being though, the single currency and Italian bonds are cheering the fact that on Friday, Moody's put a stable outlook to Italy's credit watch which puts any risk of being downgraded to junk status as a low risk for the near-term.
