Salvini quashes the earlier report by Repubblica
As mentioned earlier, it would make little sense for Salvini to call upon an election for March next year. Although his ruling Lega party is now favoured in opinion polls against Di Maio's Five-Star party, they share the same ideals - for the most part - when it comes to challenging the European Commission and it would be an unnecessary risk if he is to go forward with that unless he is confident beyond doubt that his Lega party will sweep home the votes.
