A bit of this, a bit of that
There is nothing top tier on the North American economic calendar today but there are a few releases that could get things moving.
At the bottom of the hour, US weekly initial jobless claims are due and expected at 220K but this report hasn't moved the market in a long time. The second US report at the same time is the Philly Fed, which is forecast at 21.5, up from 19.9. It could be a factor for the US dollar but the one to watch at the same time is the ADP Canadian jobs report. It's a data point that hasn't been around a long time but it's gaining traction and the loonie is soft today.
The Fed's Quarles speaks at 1300 GMT in a speech on alternative reference rates.
At 1700 GMT, there's a 10-year TIPS auction.
