JAPAN DATA: Demand for office space in central Tokyo rose slightly
in December amid falling rents, data released by real estate broker Miki
Shoji showed. The office vacancy ratio (vacant office space divided by
available space) stood at 8.91% in December 2010, down from 9.04% in
November but up from 8.85% in October and 8.09% in December 2009. It has
improved from a record high of 9.17% marked in August last year. “It is
still unclear whether demand for office space has hit bottom,” said an
official at Miki Shoji.
