JAPAN DATA: Japan’s trade surplus for the first 20 days of December
stood at Y36.06 billion, down 71.4% on year, pointing to a y/y fall in
the surplus for the whole of December after marking a revised -55.9%
drop in November, data released by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday
showed. In the Dec. 1-20 period, exports rose 9.6%% y/y to Y3.826
trillion while imports gained 12.6% to Y3.790 trillion. The rate of
increase in exports was little changed from the 9.1% rise in the whole
of November, while import growth slowed from the 14.2% gain in the
month.
