JAPAN: Embattled auto-maker Toyota being forced to cut costs around the
globe as it deals with massive safety recalls, says it will cut a
work-sharing program in the UK, ultimately leading to 750 job losses in
that country. Additionally, the automaker will extend a pay freeze until
April next year and will not pay a bonus to workers in that country at
the end of this year. The company is said to be in talks to implement
similar steps at its European operations.
