Latest data released by the Japan Department Store Association - 21 August 2018
- Tokyo department sales -4.5% vs +6.9% y/y prior
- Supermarket sales +1.5% vs -0.1% y/y prior
Compared to this time last year, department sales have fallen by quite a bit but this is just one fragment of what feeds into overall consumption in the Japanese economy. The data here will build into the retail sales data that will be released on 30 August.
