Commenting on the Japanese Services PMI survey data, Amy Brownbill, Economist at Markit, which compiles the survey, said:
- “Despite the continued fall in business activity for Japanese services, latest data indicates a return to growth in new business.
- If this trend in new work is sustained, then it looks increasingly positive that overall growth in activity for Japanese services will return.
- In contrast to the manufacturing sector, services reported a decline in employment for the first time since December last year. New policies by Shinzo Abe which many are calling the „third arrow‟ are aimed at improving the employment rate. It will be interesting to see in the coming survey data whether the effects of the policy have the desired effect.”
