–Japan’s Contribution To IMF To Be Highest Among Nations
–Azumi Urges Europe To Build Firewall Up More

TOKYO (MNI) – Finance Minister Jun Azumi said on Tuesday that Japan
will announce a contribution worth $60 billion to the IMF at the
upcoming G20 meeting scheduled this weekend in Washington.

Japan’s contribution is seen as a step to bail out some indebted
Euro nations.

Azumi, speaking after a regular cabinet meeting, said Euro nations’
efforts made so far “are not enough,” adding that he will urge Euro zone
members to build their firewall further, in exchange for Japan’s
contribution.

He also said he expects many other nations to contribute to the
IMF, following Japan’s decision, adding that Japan’s contribution will
be the highest among those from other nations.

China, which is also expected to make major a contribution to the
IMF, “understands Japan’s decision” on the issue. He previously said
Tokyo would decide on its stance on the contribution after consulting
other nations such as China.
