TOKYO (MNI) – The value of construction orders received by the 50
largest contractors in Japan rose 21.0% in November from a year earlier
to Y812.4 billion, the second straight month it has marked a
year-on-year rise, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and
Tourism said on Tuesday.
The November reading followed a 24.3% rise in October.
The breakdown for the latest month follows:
— Domestic private sector: +9.1% y/y at Y722.0 billion, a second
straight rise.
— Public sector: -10.7% y/y at Y158.7 billion, the first fall in
five months.
— Overseas: +854.2% y/y at Y90.4 billion, the first rise in three
months.
