TOKYO (MNI) – The Japanese government has nominated Koji Ishida,
president of Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Koji Ishida, as a
candidate to succeed the outgoing Bank of Japan policy board member
Tadao Noda, newspapers reported on Friday.
His nomination is expected to be approved in both houses of
parliament during the current 150-day session that ends on June 22.
Ishida, 63, worked in the planning department at Sumitomo Bank, a
predecessor to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp, an arm of Sumitomo Mitsui
Financial Group.
Ishida is expected to hold an inaugural news conference on June 17
after he is formally appointed by the cabinet.
The five-year term of Noda, who came from Mizuho Financial Group,
ends on June 16.
