That exceeds the previous record total seen on 7 August of 1,605 new daily cases. Active cases across the country have exceeded over 12,000 and that is the highest since 25 August, with the peak being on 13 August (a little over 16,000 active cases).
Just be mindful that the situation is still unlikely to call for more drastic measures by the Japanese government yet, but it could start to have an impact on consumer behaviour if the virus trajectory continues down this path over the coming weeks.
