Maybe the US jobs market is turning some kind of corner or maybe it’s seasonality but initial jobless claims have been lower for three consecutive weeks (385K, 368K, 364K). Data for the week ended Dec 24 will be released at the bottom of the hour and the consensus is 375K.
Risk trades are trying to stabilize here but a number above 400K would dash that. S&P 500 futures are up 5 points.
