The JPY and USD have seen marginal gains overnight with risk aversion being ratheted up a little, Asian stocks following their U.S. counterparts lower. EUR/USD has slipped to 1.2590 having closed out around 1.2660 in Europe Thursday, while EUR/JPY is down at 118.50 from around 119.20.

Main data releases in Europe today will be flash estimates for German and Euro-zone purchasing managers indexes for February and UK retail sales for January. 08:30 GMT German manuf PMI is seen at 32.5 from 32.0, services PMI at 45.0 from 45.2. 09:00 GMT Euro-zone manuf PMI is seen at 35.0 from 34.4, services PMI at 42.5 from 42.2. 09:30 GMT UK retail sales for January are seen +0.1% month on month and +2.1% year on year.
