Venezuela on the brink
Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido called for a military uprising outside the La Carlota military base in Caracas on Tuesday in a dangerous bid to claim the Presidency from Maduro.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed full US support for what Guiado called Operación Libertad.
At the announcement Guiado had a few dozen national guard members at his side, whose faces were covered. So far no high ranking officials have pledged support to Guiado.
This is a bold gambit from Guiado that could easily spill into a civil war and bears extremely close watching for oil market participants.
