These are important comments because Macron is seen as a potential hold up. What he's saying on a technical extension is more negative than it sounds. He's saying he will only support it if parliament agrees to the deal. The messaging is also important, reiterating that there is no other deal.
If parliament can't support this deal, then he's saying it's up to the UK to tell them what the plan is. They could extend if there's a plan for an election or another referendum but they're not going to extend so the UK can kick this around for another six months.
