Markit Manufacturing PMI data for June 2020

  • market manufacturing PMI for June (F) 49.8 vs. 49.6 in the preliminary report. The reading is the high since February 2020
  • the reading below 50 represents the 4th consecutive month of contraction
  • new orders 50 vs. 49.5 in the preliminary report. Highest reading since February 2020
  • output rises to 47.5 vs. 34.4 in May. Highest reading since February 2020

Although still below the 50 level, the index is creeping back toward that key borderline between contraction and expansion. The new order data did reach the 50.0 level.

At 10 AM ET/1400 GMT the ISM manufacturing data for June will be released with expectations for 49.7 vs. 43.1 in May. New orders are expected to rise above the 50 level to 51.9 from 31.8. Prices paid is expected to rise to 44.6 from 40.8. Employment came in at 32.1 last month. There is no estimate.
