Markit Services and Composite indices for May 2019 (Final).
- Markit services PMI for May 50.9 in line with expectations (and preliminary)
- Markit composite PMI for May 50.9 also in line with expectations (and preliminary)
- Service PMI is the lowest since February 2016
- Business expectations fall to 59.2 versus 61.2 in April. Lowest reading since June 2016
- prices charged fall versus previous month and is at the lowest reading since February 2016
- Composite index is the lowest since May 2016
- new orders fell to 51.3 versus 53.2 in April. Lowest since March 2016
- New export business reached its lowest level since September 2016
The index stands just above the 50 reading and is down sharply from the February high at 56.0. However, the preliminary report took some of the sting out of the decline (April was at 53.0).
