Translation: She's not giving up
- We now have to see what happens on Monday with indicative votes
- Clearly not the result we wanted but a number of senior colleagues have voted with us today
- There is more work to do but things are moving in the right direction
- We don't know what, if anything, parliament will resolve next week
- Government will continue to talk to lawmakers from all parties and continue discussions with the DUP
- EU have been clear that withdrawal agreement discussions are closed
- PM still believes that a general election is not in the national interest
The message here is that she's not quitting yet. She needs to swing 29 votes or get some combination of abstentions. It's a tall task and her odds are long but she knows more about who can be persuaded than I do. It sure looks like stubbornness but it's not like she has much of a political career or legacy if she fails.
