McConnell says it would make it to the Senate floor

This is big:

"If a presidentally supported bill clears the House at some point we'll bring it to the floor," he said.

Does that mean before the election? That's the question now.

The odds of a deal certainly go up if it makes it to the Senate floor. In theory you could expect all Democratic Senators to support it, but would there be enough Republicans? They would need at least 14 to stop a filibuster. There are a lot of fiscal hawks there.

Asked whether he would support it, McConnell said: "We'd have to see what it was first."
