Anti-immigration party makes gains

Initial exit polls show German Chancellor Angela Merkel's CDU party lost in Baden-Wuerttemberg to the Greens and in Rhineland-Palatinate to the Social Democrats. In Saxony-Anhalt they hold a strong lead.

The anti-immigration Alternative for Germany made gains in all three states including 23% of the vote in Saxony-Anhalt, 12.5% in Baden-Wuerttemberg and 11% in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The biggest change coming in developed-world politics in the coming decade will be tighter immigration and border controls. It's inevitable.
