Mid term elections crucial for Trump
While we are waiting on May, a thought to pass the time on Mr Trump and his mid term elections. If democrats win control of either the house of representatives or the Senate they will obviously be able to limit the impact of the remaining two years of President Trump's term. Furthermore, democrats would take charge of some important Congressional committees and start investigations into Trump's business dealings and allegations of sexual assault. Worst case scenario for Trump would be a call for his impeachment. If a call for impeachment went through (though it is unlikely), the process would look like this
House of Representatives
- Any member can introduce a resolution of impeachment
- The House of Representatives meet and a 51% simple majority moves it to a trial at the Senate
The Senate
- The trial begins
- At the end of the trial a 67% majority is needed to declare the President guilty, after which he is removed from office and the Vice President takes over for the rest of the term.
