Mohammed Bin Salman suddenly one of the most important figures in the world

Saudi Arabia is at the centre of the energy world and geopolitical world.

It's clear now there is a massive shift ongoing in the Kingdom and the person behind it is 30-year old Mohammad bin Salman, is referred to by foreigners as MbS.

When King Salman took over last year, the implications were unclear but it's quickly becoming apparent that his son is a major decision maker.

MbS is the defense minister, the chief of the royal court, chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs, Minister of State,

In January, 10 The Independent reported that "the BND, the German intelligence agency ... portrayed Saudi defence minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ... as a political gambler who is destabilising the Arab world through proxy wars in Yemen and Syria."

Any oil trader right now -- heck, anyone with an interest in markets -- should be reading whatever they can get their hands on in regards to MbS.

Start with his first on-the-record interview, given in January to The Economists.
