- China Electricity Council expects power consumption to rise 6.5% y/y in the second half, up from +5.3% in the first
- Forecast power consumption to rise about 6.0% this year (below the expected 6.5% to 7.5% at the start of the year; and also lower than last year’s +7.5%)
- Warned that insufficient power generation construction will lead to shortages in the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020)
- Called on the government to start major power projects as soon as possible and to speed up establishing a trans-regional power grid
