Max sustained winds of 90mph
A hurricane warning is in effect for the islands of Flores, Corvo, Faial, Pico, Sao Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira, with maximum sustained winds expected to hit ~100mph.
"Preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion," the National Hurricane Centre said.
