Tokyo's main index slightly lower on the day

Asian stocks in general are lower on the day (apart from China), as they are mostly taking a cue from European and US trading yesterday.
But the Nikkei was much lower at one point, so the slightly lower close at the end of the day can be taken with a positive hint.
Elsewhere, Australia's ASX 200 closed lower on the day by 0.25%.
