ANZ Business Survey for New Zealand, July 2018

Activity Outlook drops to 3.8, lowest since May of 2009

  • prior 9.4
  • long-term average is +27

Business Confidence drops even further to -44.9 and to its lowest since May of 2008 (a 10+ year low … very poor indeed)

  • prior -39.0

These are awful headline results from this survey ….

Says ANZ:

  • The ANZ Business Outlook Survey for July paints an unhappy picture
  • Activity sub-indicators were weak across the board; retail is the least confident sector

NZD getting a bit of an offer after the data published
