This is a bit of overnight news, came out a few hours ago - so just a catch-up

Reuters reports that

  • The Vienna meeting "was held in advance of Sept. 26-28 talks in Algeria between OPEC and other major oil producers to discuss a potential output freeze."
  • It was "a two-day expert-level meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries on production cooperation"
  • And ... it "yielded no major breakthrough"
  • But "everyone wore lederhosen and ate lots of schnitzel!" (I made that one up, could you tell?)

For those keeping track, there are all sorts of speculations on whether the producers will reach some sort of production freeze agreement. That speculation will continue.
